How we train and our training ethos
Professional and personal development is about gaining new knowledge, skills and abilities or developing those we already have.
We believe this is most effectively achieved using a range of methods and so our training includes not only the delivery of the theory, but also workshops. Students have opportunities to identify how the training relates to their own practise (way of working) and are encouraged to discuss topics and share ideas.
Participation and reflection are essential student and life skills and our sessions are run with this in mind.
Our aim is not only for students to be fully prepared and pass the exam first time, but also to reach the end of the course with an understanding of what it means to be a ‘professional’ – with all the responsibilities and behaviours that this involves.
We use techniques which help students build on their existing experiences and abilities and we aim to help them challenge any limiting beliefs they hold which may be a barrier to their progression.
We want our students to be successful and believe that student success can be enhanced by the commitment and experience of their tutor. As well as being trainers, we aim to demonstrate, as well as encourage, professionalism, dedication and focus, taking on the role of a ‘Mentor’ – aiming to set an example and to offer support and guidance as the student travels along a path that we have previously followed.
Our commitment is to deliver effective training which:
• Meets the needs of the participant
• Encourages professionalism and use of reflective skills in both learning and work roles
• Uses feedback and evaluation to improve
• Promotes diversity and provides equality of opportunity in learning
• Adheres to NEBDN and GDC criteria for training providers
